Dota Auto Chess employs its own system to assess Matchmaking Rating (MMR) to each player.

MMR for rank mark[ | ]

Players ranks go from lower rank to higher rank: Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, King, Queen.

At Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, it is further split into 9 marks, e.g. Pawn-1 to Pawn-9. At Queen rank, player receive another number next to their rank indicating their position compared (based on MMR) to all other players in the game.

The difference between 2 consecutive rank marks is 80 MMR, with Pawn-2 start at 500 MMR.

MMR update after each game[ | ]

Disclamer: The following information obtained through observation. The exact calculation is not available yet.

When a game finishes, MMR change for each player is calculated as

   mmr_change = (avg_mmr - mmr) * .15 + placement_const

where

  • avg_mmr is average mmr of all players in this game
  • mmr is mmr of the current player
  • placement_const is based on placement of current player on game result, as following
Placement 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th
Value 80 64 48 32 -33 -49 -65 -81

There are exception to this calculation: The first place never lose rating points if the calculated change is lower than 0. Likewise the last place never gain any rating points.
